Representative Bloom (R-199th) is the PA State Representative who represents all of the Big Spring School District.  In the following video, Representative Bloom remarks about teacher strikes in the video.  First and foremost, Representative Bloom notes that children are harmed academically by teacher strikes.  There is no scientific data that shows this to be true. In fact, research has shown the contrary.  In the linked article, you can see for yourself that Representative Bloom is misinformed.

Teacher Strike Research

Representative Bloom also infers that teacher strikes cheat students out of days in school.  The truth is that it is a state law that students must have 180 days by June 30 each year.  If a teacher strike is held during the year, it can only last long enough to meet the 180 day requirement.

Furthermore, Representative Bloom has stated that school choice is necessary to help students who are in failing schools.  Research has shown us that approximately 95% of our PA PUBLIC schools are succeeding! As little as 5% of our schools are lacking improvement. Check out the facts below about PA schools! PA schools do have the solutions that work.
